    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Variety Care's Compensation and Benefits programs. Ensures programs are current and competitive with regards to trends, practices, and costs. Negotiates coverage, services, and costs with benefit carriers and brokers. Assures compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs and prepares and files required legal reports in a timely fashion.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation benefits enrollment.
  • Administers Open Enrollment and manages the program and process.
  • Administers employee insurance programs including life, disability, and health insurance plans.
  • Leads the Shared Incentive Program (SIP) by creating programs that drive engagement in the Variety Care Benefits program.
  • Administers employee savings plans including but not limited to the company's 403(b) plan, 457, and holiday savings plans.
  • Ensures all new hires are automatically enrolled in the 403b program (HRIS and on vendor website).
  • Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.
  • Researches and compares incentive compensation plans offered by demographically comparable organizations; assesses competitors' plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organization's plans competitive and effective.
  • Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensures data feeds are sent and received from Variety Care to vendors.
  • Reconcile and balance biweekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly benefits to ensure accuracy.
  • Conducts employee surveys, census, and other research and demographic efforts required to collect accurate quotes from benefit providers.
  • Identifies and selects carriers and plans based on quotes, available benefits, and prior experience and follows all procurement requirements when selecting vendors.
  • Monitors administrators' and insurance carriers' reports to ensure the organization's compliance with plan requirements.
  • Participates in third party audits of Variety Care benefit plans including, but not limited to, COBRA, Financial Audits and ERISA.
  • Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scales and structures.
  • Maintains employee benefits and compensation data in HRIS.
  • Will run ad hoc reports for benefits auditing, compliance, and verification.
  • Develops and implements salary structure and administrative guidelines in accordance with compensation policy.
  • Preparation and updates all job descriptions.
  • Conducts job analysis to determine appropriate salary level according to compensation guidelines and policy of Variety Care.
  • Completes job analysis compared to job pay via compensation system.
  • Analyzes company compensation policies in relation to government wage and hour regulations, prevailing rates for similar jobs in comparable industries or geographic areas and recommends changes as appropriate to establish and maintain competitive rates.
  • Analyzes organizational pay practices and makes recommendations for salary changes to ensure equity.
  • Support Variety Care's accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable. Provide leadership and work with all staff to achieve the goals of the "Triple Aim" of healthcare reform-to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge :
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration or related field.
  • Three years of Human Resources/Benefits/Compensation experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and compensation.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in program administration and interactions with contractors, consultants, experts, and others.
  • Experience exercising sound judgment and decision making.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and HRIS software.
  • Preferred Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge :
  • Professional certification in human resources.
  • Healthcare-related human resources experience.
  • Essential Functions :
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Retrieve, lift and carry files and documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to other Variety Care health centers as needed.
