Introduction:


The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Compliance Coordinator within the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Healthcare (OPEHC).

This position will be located in Madison, WI and will primarily work Monday-Friday with daytime hours. This is a hybrid position that offers the option to work remotely up to 5 days per week. This position also requires approximately 5% travel throughout Wisconsin. This schedule may vary based on training or operational needs.

Position Summary:


As the EMS Compliance Coordinator, you will perform advanced investigative work to the full authority in Wisconsin Administrative Code DHS You will be the statewide point of contact for EMS compliance and enforcement of applicable EMS medical, operational, and mandatory service requirements.

You will coordinate and collaborate with EMS Section staff members and leadership, EMS providers, EMS Medical Directors, EMS Service Directors, professional associations, educators, Office of Legal Counsel, and others.

You will be expected to understand the authorizing statutes and codes, have a strong understanding of emergency medical care, be aware of standards of pre-hospital treatment and care, and must be able to interpret outcomes based on the delivery of EMS services.


The EMS Compliance Coordinator is also responsible for:

  • Verifying Wisconsin certification or license when requested by other states or licensing entities.
  • Leading the EMS Section's fulfillment of open records requests.
  • Reviewing EMS practitioner criminal history and action, as appropriate.
  • Leading the EMS Section's review and decision making on Administrative Rule waivers.
  • Briefing leadership, advisory boards, and other partners.
  • Leading EMS practitioner license audits.
  • Supporting emergency response, when requested.

Salary Information:


The starting pay for this position is between $31.71 and $35.57 per hour (approximately between $65,900 and $73,100 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.

A 12-month probationary period is required.


Job Details:


All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.


For positions that do allow remote working flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.


Qualifications:

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience planning and conducting investigations or fact-finding interviews.
  • Experience writing investigative reports based on standards, policies, administrative rules or statutes.
  • Experience coordinating and fulfilling open records requests.
