    Gifted High School Teacher - 1 Position Available

    Missouri certification required: Gifted K-12

    We are currently open for applications for the upcoming school year.

    JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

    To cater to the academic and emotional needs of identified gifted students in grades 9-12.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Facilitate student achievement:
    • Examples of Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct instruction to identified gifted students individually or in small groups
    • Address social/emotional needs of identified gifted students
    • Coordinate job shadowing and mentoring opportunities, college entrance exams planning
    • Research and schedule educational options such as dual credit courses, distance learning, etc.
    • Assist with post-secondary research, admissions procedures, scholarship applications
    • Collaborate with regular classroom teachers to adapt curriculum for gifted students
    • Monitor student achievement:
    • Examples of Responsibilities:

    • Track progress of identified students in various activities
    • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports
    • Diagnose students' learning abilities with district specialists
    • Maintain accurate records as per regulations
    • Be available to students and parents outside of regular hours for education-related purposes
    • Perform other assigned duties:
    • Examples of Duties:

    • Implement district's educational philosophy and goals
    • Ensure student safety and maintain classroom order
    • Enhance professional competence through continuous learning
    • Attend meetings and serve on staff committees as needed

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education - Bachelor's degree and Missouri Teaching Certification in Gifted Education K-12

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Proficiency in designing engaging lesson plans
    • Skilled in software applications like Word, Excel, Power Point
    • Collaborative and effective communicator
    • Superior interpersonal skills for a high-energy educational environment
    • Understanding of District policies and confidentiality requirements
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-directed, motivated, and independent worker

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    This role involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities. It also requires specific vision and hearing abilities.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

    Primarily works in a classroom setting with occasional travel between 3 schools.

    EQUIPMENT / TOOLS/ MATERIALS USED:

    Utilizes a personal computer, copier, fax machine, and calculator.

    REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: None

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to a 191-day work calendar with minimum weekly hours. Compensation and benefits provided as per Board of Education guidelines.
