Description

This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by serving as a member of the Research and Analytics Branch (RAB) and functioning as a public health statistician leading activities in the most complex predictive analytics to include regression analysis, machine learning, and semi-automated and automated data mining analysis transforming data from multiple sources into actionable prescriptive solutions and interventions; and the management of vital statistics data.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Research Data Manager, Chief of RAB.

Desirable Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Team leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, work both independently and as part of a team, perform work accurately and thoroughly to meet deadlines.
  • Data analytics background with intermediate to advanced experience in data software and computer skills in a coding language (i.e., SAS, R, Python, and/or SQL), Microsoft Excel, and any data visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Data analytics and statistics background with a background in quantitative and qualitative research skills. Confidentiality, proactive initiative, and originality.
