We're hiring for a
Tax Director
for our
Riverhead
office.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following
Supervise top-level management, clients, and tasks at the same time
Train staff and lower-level management personnel
Communicate with clients at a certain level of understanding depending on each client
Develop training classes and write publishable articles
Provide practical solutions to complex issues that often have conflicting parameters to resolve
Manage a book of business
Address questions on advanced technical tax matters from team members and upper-level client management
Stay current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impact on client engagements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a preference of study in Accounting or related field
9+ years' experience in a similar role
Prior experience managing engagements and clients
Licensed CPA or admission to a State Bar
Able to work independently, but also work well with others
Strong technical and broad based advisory and client management skills
Formal mentoring relationships with all levels of staff
Extensive exposure with flow-through taxation, including both partnerships & S corporations
Full understanding of the interaction between domestic and international aspects of tax.
This includes not only the structuring to minimize/avoid FWT issues, but an understanding of foreign tax forms, e.g., 1120-F, 5471, 5472, 8858, BPT & ECEP, FIRPTA, etc.
Familiarity with corporate tax that not only includes an understanding of the entire corporations and consolidations sections of the IRC but also interaction with other code sections.
Thorough understanding of the TPRs
Insight into tax accounting methods and any changes related thereto, including the preparation of Form 3115.
Working knowledge of GAAP, tax basis accounting, book/tax differences, how to reconstruct poorly maintained books & records to scrub for necessary required tax information, etc.
Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
5+ years' supervisory experience in a similar role
Experience with pass through entities, business structuring, and nonprofit organizations
Become a leader in a tax niche
Software Experience - CCH ProSystem, Microsoft Office 365
