Position Description:
If you enjoy working on hands-on projects to support U.S Naval Ships, Serco has an exciting opportunity for you! Serco is seeking Experienced Mechanical Assemblers to join a challenging project supporting the US Navy in Newport News, VA.
Serco assists the U.S Naval Ships with military and system installations.
You will collaborate closely with customers and Serco team members to complete high-tech tasks onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
In this role, you will:
- Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance tasks.
- Work with standard concepts and procedures in the field.
- Use your judgment to plan and achieve goals.
- Work in environments with noise, drafts, and temperature variations.
- Handle equipment with care to prevent accidents.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- The ability to access shipyards, undergo background checks, and pass drug screenings.
- OSHA certification.
- Respirator qualification and proper PPE use.
- Forklift certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with power tools and mechanical assemblies.
- Firewatch and Cable Installer certification.
- Shipboard Experience.
- Skills in various areas including reading drawings, using power tools, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work different shifts and extended hours.
- Physical capabilities for demanding tasks.
- Attention to safety measures.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
The ability to work in Newport News, VA.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- OSHA 10 certification
- Forklift Certification
