    POSITION: OB/GYN Registered Nurse (RN)

    DEPARTMENT: Clinical Health Services

    LOCATION: 1575 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA 02126

    REPORTS TO: Clinical Nurse Supervisor

    TYPE: Full-time

    SALARY: Commensurate with experience

    Summary: We are a diverse team composed of an MD, three Midwives, two family partners, and a family planning specialist providing care for a varied group of people with OB/GYN needs. Our pregnant patients give birth at both Boston Medical Center and Brigham & Women's Hospital. The OBGYN nurse plays a vital role in the clinical team, ensuring the delivery of coordinated, efficient, and safe care to our patients and their families. The nurse in this role needs to demonstrate initiative, knowledge, clinical skills, and expertise in care coordination to effectively handle patients from pregnancy diagnosis through the postpartum period. Furthermore, they support the management of contraceptive services, facilitate routine gynecologic screenings, and contribute to designing new innovations and implementing care models to enhance care throughout the patients' reproductive lifespan.

    50% Direct Patient Services - Obstetric

    • Case management of prenatal and postpartum patients, including initial evaluation of medical and social needs.
    • Conducting nurse-led intake visits for pregnant individuals entering prenatal care at Mattapan Community Health Center.
    • Collecting specimens for laboratory tests and managing abnormal results.
    • Triage of patients by phone or in person to determine care urgency.
    • Providing patient education on various health aspects.
    • Assisting in the design and implementation of group care visits for prenatal care and lactation.

    Direct Patient Services - Gynecologic

    • Assisting providers with procedures such as IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, and suturing.
    • Collaborating on the implementation of an abnormal pap management tracking system.
    • Ensuring timely access to contraceptive services for patients.
    • Triage of gynecologic requests and referrals based on urgency.

    30% Care Coordination and System Development

    • Supporting patients' complex care needs, referrals, and appointments to specialists.
    • Collaborating with obstetric providers to review care metrics and patient outcomes.
    • Leading interdisciplinary case management team meetings and acting as the clinic's point-person for obstetrics and gynecological queries.
    • Collaborating with team members to provide comprehensive services for the obstetric panel.
    • Participating in special programs and projects.

    15% Administrative Support

    • Monitoring equipment needs and patient flow.

    5% Educational/In-service

    • Maintaining current licensure through education and CEU's.
    • Participating in teaching exercises and serving on committees as required.
    • Precepting nursing and medical assistant students when necessary.

    Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

    Requirements:
    • A graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing with current Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registration.
    • Minimum of six months experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or ambulatory care setting.
    • Experience working with diverse populations, including migrants and refugees.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Excellent organizational, computer, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Preferred bilingualism in Haitian-Creole.
