    Controls Engineer

    • Location: Orlando, FL

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    This role involves controls engineering project requirements related to control system design, DCS/PLC programming, control panel design, instrumentation, check-out support, and start-up assistance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communication skills, and experience in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.
    • Designs, develops, and implements DCS/PLC control system to meet process requirements and comply with design/implementation codes.
    • Develops control configuration documents and design descriptions, including test plans.
    • Able to analyze system design for hazard analysis development and mitigation.
    • Can perform system design calculations/analysis and implement control system redundancy.
    • Develops schematics of control system configuration, wiring, network layout, and equipment panel layouts on AutoCAD.
    • Acts as technical lead on projects, guiding lower-level team members.
    • Serves as Project Manager on smaller projects, developing and executing implementation plans, assigning work, ensuring project deadlines are met, evaluating progress, and managing purchasing and subcontractor requirements.

    Requirements

    • QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (related experience may be substituted).
      5+ years of experience in Ethernet-based control systems, safety systems, instrumentation, logic programming, and DCS programming required.
    • Experience with AutoCAD and control/PLC system design essential.
    • Key Competencies: Knowledge of contract documents, field data collection, system design, planning, customer focus, decision-making, organizing, problem-solving.
    • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.

    TRAVEL:

    • Ability to travel up to 35%.

    • Includes seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, dexterity, driving, lifting, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
