The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation (KNF) seeks to hire Park Guides for Fort Christina Park, part of the First State National Historical Park.
Regular weekend availability is required.This position will begin on May 25, 2024, and last until September 2, 2024, with some staff continuing to work throughout September and October on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fort Christina Park Guides will provide tours and information to visitors at Fort Christina Park, home to "The Rocks," where the _Kalmar Nyckel _landed in 1638.
Guides will work closely with the Assistant Director of Public Programs & Engagement to promote an excellent and informative visitor experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greet guests on site, share history, and answer questions about Fort Christina Park and nearby sites.
- Present educational programs and assist with community events.
- Promote Park visits and event attendance.
- Provide group tours.
- Tidy up the Park and street at the beginning and end of the day.
- Lock and secure the Park and materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong visitor service and communication skills with an ability to work with various ages and people from diverse backgrounds.
- Responsible, reliable, and professional.
- Selfstarter, quick to learn, and flexible.
- Interest in Delaware and Wilmington history—colonial history, industrial history, Underground Railroad connections.
- Compliance with criminal background check.

$ $15.00 per hour

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
