Position Summary:
Provides a safe, nurturing environment for Toddlers and/or Preschool children. The Associate Teacher will ensure the safety and health of children. The Associate Teacher will maintain effective communication with parents, children, co-workers and others. The Associate Teacher will also collaborate with Site Supervisor to achieve and maintain the annual Center enrollment.


HOW TO APPLY

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or higher;
  • 12 ECE/Child Development core units;
  • 6 Toddler/Infant Education units (required only for Toddler Associate Teachers).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Associate Teacher permit or be eligible to obtain permit within 120 days of hire.
  • The Associate Teacher must have a minimum of 1 year experience as an Associate Teacher.
  • Associate Teachers assigned to Infant/Toddler classes must have 6 units in Infant/Toddler development.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Perform the business of Drew CDC Child Care Centers in accordance with Drew CDC's Employee Handbook

Title 5, Education Code:

Section 8350, Preventive Health and Safety Regulations, CLASS, NAEYC Standards, Early Head Start Performance Standards and Title 22 Regulations.


  • Perform the implementation of the program utilizing the Creative Curriculum with STEM emphasis, DRDP, NAEYC Standards, Early Head Start Performance Standards and program's Policies and Procedures Manuals and Operations Manual.
  • Perform supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety and care; develop a strategy to ensure the safety of children while they are using indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Plan and design with the Teachers and Volunteers the daily classroom program based on Creative Curriculum and implement STEM as a tool in alignment within the learning framework to support children's portfolios, narratives, and DRDP tech.
  • Perform supervision and positive interactions with staff, children and parents implemented at all times resulting in satisfaction of services and no complaints filed, both internal and external.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are defined as light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
