- Perform comprehensive pretesting procedures, including visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.
- Record patient medical history and relevant information.
- Follow ophthalmologist from the medical clinic to the surgery center.
- Conduct various diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT, and topography.
- Assist in administering ophthalmic imaging tests and interpret results.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist ophthalmologists during clinical procedures.
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the physician.
- Ensure all ophthalmic instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, calibrated, and maintained.
- Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and followup instructions.
- Answer patient queries and provide support as needed.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate patient records.
- Input data into electronic health records (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with the ophthalmology team and support staff.
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ophthalmology technician.
- Proficiency in conducting various diagnostic tests and interpreting results.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, diseases, and treatment procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
