Position Overview

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The primary purpose of the Federal Loans Office of the Comptroller Department is to perform collection efforts on the Perkins Loans and ensure that the Federal mandate of a default rate is retained and maintained below fifteen (15%) percent at year-end.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate must possess:

A working knowledge of Banner Finance or an equivalent system
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word and Excel) Applications
Knowledge of accounting and/or collections experience
Knowledge of analyze accounting transactions
Knowledge of balancing and reconciling accounts
Knowledge of file management and track transaction
Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with little or no supervision
To take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion
To learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions
To exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving
To plan, prioritize and organize workflow
Ability to work flexible schedules
Excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills
Excellent editing
Great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.

Minimum Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
