Description
ZAI has an immediate opening for a library or archives technician to support our customer, a major government library, in its efforts to digitize portions of its collection.
Reformatting includes scanning historical source materials, processing images and metadata, and performing QA/QC on images and metadata. Specific responsibilities are detailed below.This position is performed 100% onsite_._**
Hourly Rate: $24.07/ $50,065.00
Responsibilities:
- Select, gather, track, and prepare biomedical materials for scanning
- Prepare material for scanning, such as review batch spreadsheet, scanning notes, and condition of the source
- Inventory and rehouse source materials
- Ship and receive source materials scanned or copied offsite
- Scan source materials
- Process images and metadata
- Perform QA/QC on images and metadata
- Review the condition of scanned source materials and send for repair, as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree; Bachelor Degree preferred
- One or more years of recent experience working in a library or museum
- One or more years of recent experience working on reformatting collection materials, including scanning and processing images or performing QA.QC on images and metadata
- Experience with library services platforms, preferably Alma, including interpreting bibliographic data elements and searching and updating bibliographic holdings, and items records
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to organize and prioritize workloads and meet deadline
- Careful attention to detail, and ability to take direction from staff members
- Excellent oral and written professional communication skills in English
