    Description
    PDS Defense, Incis seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer 5 in Everett, WA.

    A successful candidate will be the engineering representative and participate as a team member within an aircraft lavatory Integrated Project TeamThe individual will be responsible for the engineering details of new product development and/or sustaining activities that include top-level assembly creation in NX, supporting workflows in Teamcenter, publishing parts lists, peer review of models ensuring customer requirements are met, ensuring new designs meet cost, weight, and performance targets, and the troubleshooting of issues related to field data, manufacturing pickups, and engineering errors

    Job Responsibilities:
    Creation of top-level lavatory assembly models in NXCreation of new detailed components and subassembliesCreation of new design options for customer requirements and following these designs through purchasing, testing, and operationsConduct and support internal design reviewsSupport customer meetings with technical dataPublish parts listsConducting peer reviews of models and drawingsCreating design solutions to support change requestsUnderstanding design requirements and how they can be metCoordinates with the integrated product team as the engineering representativeOther disciplines within the team include electrical engineering, stress engineering, flammability engineering, purchasing, operations, and program managementAs required, the candidate will need to support manufacturing, operations, and testing as needed

    Basic Hiring Criteria:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and 5-7 years related experience and/or training in product design or equivalent combination of education and experience in product designExperience with commercial aircraft interior designStrong engineering skills including structures, mechanisms, and systemsStrong ability and proven track record of multitasking by owning several projects and running them simultaneouslyMust be able to research and investigate design solutions and work independentlyMust have relevant 3D solid modeling and drafting experienceNX preferred; Catia, Solidworks or other CAD programs also acceptableThe ability to interpret 2D drawings, including a good understanding of GD&T and perform tolerance stack-upsStrong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etcPerform other related duties as required

    Desired Qualifications:
    NX (formally Unigraphics)Experience with Airbus single-aisle programsSiemens TeamcenterExperience with commercial Aircraft lavatory or other interior monuments.
    Strong engineering skills including kinematics, kinetics, free body diagrams, and how stresses flow through a particular designExperience with Qualification Test Programs for Boeing & Airbus programs highly desiredStrong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with ESL engineersAbility to interact with high levels of internal and external managementAble to make clear and concise customer presentationsExperience with kaizen workshops or other lean activitiesExperience with updating or authoring standard work and processes
