If you enjoy high level social media and communication projects providing information of our military health system to millions of beneficiaries, their families and retirees around the world, Serco has an amazing opportunity for you We're looking for a Social Media Specialist with experience developing, managing, and analyzing social media platforms to support our Defense Health Agency (DHA) customer in Falls Church, VA.

This is a temporary position.


Serco supports the DHA which provides medical care to all Department of Defense active-duty service members, their families, and retirees.

The Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) Directorate is a full-service communications and public affairs which integrates strategies and messages into all forms of media (web, social media, engagement, media outlets, outreach and graphics, testimonies and articles) to tell the DHA story to a wide variety of key audiences, including the media, the American people, beneficiaries, and Congress.


You will be part of a 40 + person team that works closely with the customer and other partners to deliver effective communications content.

This is an existing opportunity, and you will be joining an experienced team that is firing on all cylinders.


In this role, you will:


  • Develop content and strategies for Defense Health Agency social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Work with strategists and other team members to ensure messaging is engaging, on target and timely
  • Analyze social media reach and impact and expect to shift messaging based on efficacy/metrics/reach
  • Develop key messaging for senior leaders and on behalf of DOD/DHA
  • Ensure messaging is within DOD standards
  • Create content for, and engage with, other strategic communicators within the Military Health System
  • Develop guidelines to ensure consistent messaging across the enterprise
  • Collaborate with other teams (Media, Newsroom, Outreach, Engagement, Executive Speechwriters) to ensure consistency of messaging
  • Develop content for, and lead, the Military Health System Social Media Working Group
  • Contribute to weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports for leadership


Qualifications:


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience and proficiency in strategic communications, public affairs, and/or social media management
  • Experience with DHA, VHA or DoD or other related federal agency
  • Excellent presentation skills and comfort communicating with clients
  • The ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a background check and drug screen

  • Understanding of structure and missions of military health organizations
  • Experience with DHA, VHA or DoD/military branch communications
  • Experience analyzing communications reach and effect
  • Comfort working at client offices and participating in internal strategy sessions
  • Experience supporting senior military and political leaders
  • Familiarity with Sprout Social or other social media analyses tools
