Schlosser Development is seeking a dependable Assistant Building Engineer with a good attitude to assist in the maintenance of a beautiful Class A commercial building near downtown Austin with office and retail tenants.

Some building maintenance experience is preferred but construction experience or trade school will be considered.

The Position


The Assistant Building Engineer is responsible for providing essential support in the maintenance and operation of our Class A commercial property near downtown Austin.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Perform basic electrical tasks such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, and light switches.
  • Handle basic plumbing duties including replacing valves or solenoids and using an auger.
  • Assist with HVAC maintenance by replacing filters, changing belts, and adjusting thermostat settings.
  • Undertake light construction projects such as installing ceiling tiles, drywall, and painting.
  • Support facilities maintenance including furniture assembly, data cabling, installing signs, and hanging pictures.
  • Assist with various maintenance projects as directed.

Position Requirements:


  • 2+ years previous experience in building maintenance or related field.
  • Certification or training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or construction trades.
  • Familiarity with commercial building systems and equipment.
  • Basic maintenance skills with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with supervisors and tenants.
  • Availability for oncall duty one week per month to respond to afterhours maintenance calls.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to move and install various items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to safely ascend/descend ladders and work atop roofs at various heights.
  • Capacity to remain stationery and position self to different heights for extended periods.
  • Must be able to identify safety hazards, and exchange information to properly perform tasks.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment and perform intricate tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and tenants.

Pay:
$ $30.00 per hour
