  • About the Role
  • Provides Health, Safety & Security (HSS) technical knowledge and expertise in conducting assurance activities over risk management, industry and internal processes. Supports the delivery of the approved internal assurance plan by effectively and efficiently planning, executing and delivering the coverage of the HSS process and risks across Assets, Functions and Exploration activities. Delivers the HSS scope of assurance activities, in line with the approved annual plan with high degree of quality.
This is completed by planning, executing and reporting in compliance with the Group HSS Assurance Terms of Reference:


Key accountabilities:


  • Provides Subject Matter Expertise on HSS to assess controls, systems and HSS programs defined by BHP to manage risk with potential Health, Safety or Security impact across the organisation.
  • Uses data analytics to refine assurance scope, analyse trends, identify exceptions and produce factually based outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the business over complex HSS issues and promotes critical thinking and coaching to help the business to improve the risk and control environment.
  • Verifies the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Designs and implements governance/assurance practices and provide coaching and capability build to enable value outcomes across BHP.
  • Responds to, manages and provides specialist/functional expertise on health, safety and security related risks to uplift organisational capability in HSS management.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
  • About You
    To be a top performer you will need:
  • High level of tertiary education
  • completed a university degree.
  • Depth of knowledge and proven experience in the resources industry of at least 10 years.
