    Scope of Job
    The Manager, Safety & Quality will be responsible for the safe installation of PowerFlex projects across all technologies, at the national level. They will work closely with Execution leaders and project managers to keep our safety and quality standards up to date, train team members, and give them the tools to drive high-quality installations. Additionally, the Manager will ensure general workplace safety across our four offices, creating a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.

    At a high level, the Manager, Safety & Quality will have a firm understanding of current company processes and will gather feedback from stakeholders and craft new processes to address problems related to construction safety and construction quality. They will identify and analyze unsatisfactory outcomes and roll out new processes to the company with clear direction steps. They will train teams on updated processes and will follow up on adoption rates within the company to ensure that new processes are having the desired effect on the final product. They will track KPIs through the year to measure progress towards company goals.

    Location
    This role is open to be a remote/hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.)

    Responsibilities
    40% - Safety

    • Ensure site safety inspections are conducted at the approved frequency
    • Review Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) before project mobilizations, JHAs (job hazard analysis) throughout the construction phase, and EAPs (emergency action plans)
    • Develop SOPs for high risk activities
    • Track safety data for the company and report to shareholders
    • Manage Safety consultants, training providers, and other safety professionals
    • Update Safety Manual on an annual basis
    • Manage safety training program
    • Manage incident investigations as needed for incidents going forward, with support from safety consultants
    • Keep safety information up-to-date on 3rd party platforms
    • Review customer safety requirements to ensure compliance
    • Promote and enforce workplace safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations by developing and maintaining safety programs and policies.
    • Oversee the investigation, documentation, and reporting of workplace accidents and injuries, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Partner with HR and EDF HSES to manage workers compensation claims and support injured employees'.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings and provide safety updates to staff. Partner with EDF HSES teams to deliver safety trainings and policies.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve workplace safety culture. Perform regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing action plans to address identified hazards and improve safety performance.

    40% - Quality

    • Develop a quality program to ensure the installations completed by PowerFlex and our installation partners meets the highest standards of our industry
    • Analyze quality inspection reports to identify frequently occurring quality concerns and develop bulletins and procedures to reduce their occurrence
    • Review prequalification package for new installation partners
    • Collaborate with Asset Management team & Technical Director to review workmanship warranty claims
    • Update PowerFlex Construction Methods on a bi-annual basis

    20% - Training

    • Collaborate with Project Operations team and Project Management managers to identify new process & training needs
    • Train new hires on safety & quality procedures & tools (e.g. Procore best practices)
    • Plan & conduct internal training sessions for new hires and existing employees to ensure quality and safety practices are understood and applied correctly on projects
    • Plan & conduct external training sessions with installation partners in acceptable methods for safety and quality

    Qualifications
    Education/Experience

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
    • 5+ years' experience in construction and construction management (strong preference for experience in the renewable energy construction industry)
    • OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, CPR and First Aid Required
    • High proficiency in Procore, Salesforce, MS Office, scheduling tools
    • Superior knowledge of renewable energy systems and electrical components

    Compensation
    The pay range for this position is $102,500 - $171,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

    Supervision of Others

    • No direct reports
    • Provide direction to internal teams and groups.
    • Possible direct reports in the future include quality/safety inspectors.

    Physical Requirements

    • Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
    • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
    • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
    • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
    • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
    • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
    • Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors.
    • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
    • Able to work outdoors for extended periods.
    • Exposures to hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme heat/cold.
    • Climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
    • Physical effort/lifting, light - up to 20 pounds
    • Weekend/night work may be required 1-2 times per year
    • Must have own vehicle and transportation. Reimbursement for mileage or rental car as needed.

    Working Conditions
    Approximately 90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers. Frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Salesforce, Procore, telephones, and general office equipment.
    Approximately 10% of the time is spent traveling to job sites and offices.

    Fiscal Responsibilities

    • Preparation of a budget plan for quality/safety department.
    • Processing and Approving Financial Transactions for safety/quality related contractors
