Summary/Objective(s)
Controller oversees the accounting and HR functions of the business.

The Controller will support and solidify the internal finance organization and external support of payroll, credit cards and other tactical support organizations.

Critical leadership in budgeting / forecasting and capable of assisting in the process improvement activities both within the finance area and supporting improvement activities in production and other areas.

Human resource tactical action as well as provide support to external advisory organizations in an effort maintain compliance. Other support areas of responsibility are benefits administration, retirement fund administration review and overall compliance.


Essential Functions

  • Establishes finance operational tactics; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, and quality strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; and implementing change.
  • Yearend preparation work.
  • Ensure the completion of monthend close activities including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepare monthly forecasting. Prepares and communicates financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements. Communicate with leadership to identify trends/corrective actions.
  • Provide financial support for large sales proposals.
  • Establish accurate standard costs and inventory valuation for manufacturing.
  • Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Develops financial accounting for capital, facilities, and staff requirements, identifying monetary resources.
  • Develops financial staff working on accounting activities services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff as needed. Communicating and enforcing values for accounting staff, policies, and procedures; recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and planning and reviewing compensation strategies
  • Lead the planning and execution of the cycle count activities including analysis and reporting of results.
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages direct, indirect, and dotted line relationships across all locations.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; with occasional lifting.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a fulltime position, Monday through Sunday, typically 50 hours minimum expectation.

Education

  • MBA or bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting and financial management practices.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a management/supervisory position.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Certified Public Accountant certification a plus.
  • Certified Management Accountant certification a plus.
