SUMMARY


The Engagement Specialist (CES) provides peer support services, serves as a member advocate; provides information and peer support those experiencing a crisis.

The CRSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist members in regaining control over their own lives and over their own recovery process.

The RSS will role model and teach competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Fully and compassionately engage those experiencing a crisis with own lived experience.
  • Pay close attention to, or take into consideration, common characteristics such as gender, race, primary language, ethnicity, religion, veteran status, and age when engaging individuals in crisis.
  • Serve as one of two mobile crisis response team members. (SAMHSA, 2020)
  • May be required to work flexible schedules and be available to work in including weekends and evenings as required.
  • May required to be on call.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital's compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must have or complete Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification within on e year of stating date
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery in required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recovery process and models.
  • Ability to teach and guide other through recovery process.
  • Ability to lead peer to peer support groups.
  • Ability to empower and motivate others.
  • Ability to engage and facilitate a calming environment.
  • Ability to recognize stigma.
  • Knowledge of illness, medications, and treatment.
  • Understanding of the mental health system and how it works.
  • Current and valid driver's license is required.
  • Daily access to a personal vehicle is required. Must obtain and maintain $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 bodily injury and liability insurance. Subject to validation every six months.
  • May be required to provide transportation for members of the program using personal vehicle. Must be 23 years of age and meet all insurance carrier's requirements.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma required or equivalent (GED)
  • Personal experience ln recovery from mental Illness or substance abuse and willing to share recovery experience with other volunteers, staff, and clients with MI/SA.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in reading and writing.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of clients and client needs.
  • Must possess cultural competence.
