Assistant Commissioner
Business Affairs and Consumer Protection
Neighborhood Business Development Centers (NBDC) Program
Number of Positions: 1
The position of Assistant Commissioner for the Neighborhood Business Development Centers (NBDC) Program is responsible for the overall management of the Program and for outreach events with Chambers of Commerce, small businesses and other organizations to promote commerce and positive economic activity throughout the City.
Essential Duties
- Compiles, executes, and oversees the approximately 100 NBDC contracts with business organizations that BACP has. The contracts have specific deliverables that this person will review monthly. This person develops individual NBDC and Chamber Work Plans, which are deliverables that grantees must comply with in order to obtain grant monies.
- Attends community meetings to explain proposed projects and incentive programs and ensures that businesses know of key incentives, resource partners, rules, and regulations.
- Communicates intraandinterdepartmentally to coordinate programmatic needs. Ensures that communication with delegate agencies is professional and timely. Leads and speaks at public events for delegate agencies.
- Monitors grant expenditures and program deliverables for active department agreements with delegate agencies.
- Uses critical thinking skills to problem solve issues between delegates, program mandates, city processes, and other variables.

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City as outlined in of the City of Chicago Municipal Code.
