    Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON)

    Department: Nursing

    Job Summary: The Director of Nursing (DON) is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall management of the nursing department. The DON ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the implementation of effective nursing policies and procedures. This role involves strategic planning, staff supervision, and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Leadership and Management:
      • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
      • Lead and mentor nursing staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
      • Oversee daily operations and ensure optimal staffing levels.
    2. Patient Care Quality:
      • Ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.
      • Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
      • Address and resolve patient care issues and concerns.
    3. Regulatory Compliance:
      • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
      • Prepare for and participate in inspections, audits, and accreditation processes.
      • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare laws and standards.
    4. Strategic Planning:
      • Develop and execute strategic plans for the nursing department.
      • Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated and efficient patient care.
      • Manage budgets, resources, and financial planning for the department.
    5. Staff Development:
      • Promote professional development and continuing education for nursing staff.
      • Foster a positive and supportive work environment.
      • Implement programs to enhance clinical skills and leadership abilities.
    6. Collaboration and Communication:
      • Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
      • Serve as a liaison between the nursing staff and executive management.
      • Participate in committee meetings and organizational decision-making processes.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
    • Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in NY.
    • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
    • Certifications: BLS/ACLS certification required; additional certifications in nursing leadership or management preferred.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
