POSITION OVERVIEW


This individual is responsible for the instruction and training of new security monitors, and security supervisors, scheduling and assigning them to designated posts.

This individual also tours the facility to ensure the protection of personnel and residents of the facility. Oversight of multiple facilities across the agency.


Salary:
$42,000 - $46,000


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs staff, visitors, and clients to requested designations.
  • Answer questions and give directions relative to services.
  • Maintain a security log with all movements of personnel and/or visitors in and out of the premises and any unusual occurrences.
  • Supervise facility security staff and ensure an appropriate level of coverage in conjunction with the Director of the Homeless Services Program.
  • Instruct/train newly appointed security staff in the maintenance of security log, mail system, intake of deliveries, security procedures, fire safety process, etc.
  • Schedule and assign security staff to designated posts and tours to ensure the protection of personnel and the security of the premises.
  • Performs additional functions as assigned by the Director.
  • Conduct fire drills and maintain fire drill logs as directed.
  • Inspect the alarm system daily to ensure the protection of the premises.
  • Ensure the completion of all incidentrelated documentation as required by URI and DHS.
  • Must be available to work doubles and flexible shifts.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars to enhance and develop skills.
  • Meet with Assistant Director for group supervision and facilitate meetings with security monitor staff.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of previous experience as a security officer.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of homelessness within disenfranchised communities, including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIVaffected, the elderly, and individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, including written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Russian) preferred.
