POSITION OVERVIEW
This individual is responsible for the instruction and training of new security monitors, and security supervisors, scheduling and assigning them to designated posts.
Salary:
$42,000 - $46,000
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs staff, visitors, and clients to requested designations.
- Answer questions and give directions relative to services.
- Maintain a security log with all movements of personnel and/or visitors in and out of the premises and any unusual occurrences.
- Supervise facility security staff and ensure an appropriate level of coverage in conjunction with the Director of the Homeless Services Program.
- Instruct/train newly appointed security staff in the maintenance of security log, mail system, intake of deliveries, security procedures, fire safety process, etc.
- Schedule and assign security staff to designated posts and tours to ensure the protection of personnel and the security of the premises.
- Performs additional functions as assigned by the Director.
- Conduct fire drills and maintain fire drill logs as directed.
- Inspect the alarm system daily to ensure the protection of the premises.
- Ensure the completion of all incidentrelated documentation as required by URI and DHS.
- Must be available to work doubles and flexible shifts.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars to enhance and develop skills.
- Meet with Assistant Director for group supervision and facilitate meetings with security monitor staff.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Three years of previous experience as a security officer.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of homelessness within disenfranchised communities, including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIVaffected, the elderly, and individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
- Excellent communication skills are required, including written, verbal, and listening skills.
- Must have the ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish/Russian) preferred.
