POSITION OVERVIEW


Under the direct supervision of the Asset Protection Area Manager (APAM) the role of the Asset Protection Agent (APA) is to ensure the safety of our customers and associates along with the protection of company assets.

Command presence and deterring theft is a priority.

The APA is the first and last impression of the WSS brand and must be helpful and courteous to our customers.

To be effective at this job, APA should be detail-oriented team players with strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as an Asset Protection Agent must fill out reports, effectively communicate with shoplifters, and speak with police.

They should be in good physical condition, as this position requires a lot of walking and standing.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Prevent losses through teamwork, training and providing extreme customer service.

Ø Monitor sales floor by providing ECS and using CCTV as needed to identify suspicious behavior.

Ø Maintain a strong "command presence" on the sales floor.

Ø Recover merchandise from theft suspects when safely able to do so.

Ø Critical thinker, able to act without emotion and disengage when situations dictate.

Ø Handle emergency/crisis incidents while ensuring the safety and security of all store team members and customers.

Ø Approach theft suspects on the sales floor and discourage theft. You must be 100% positive that a theft occurred before approaching.


Follow these 5 steps:

  • You must see the shoplifter approach the merchandise
  • You must see the shoplifter select the merchandise
  • You must see the shoplifter conceal or carry away the merchandise
  • You must maintain continuous observation of the shoplifter
  • You may then approach the suspect
Ø WSS has a policy that prevents employees from detaining theft suspects or making arrest.

Ø Must follow our No Exit policy. No exceptions.

Ø Notify APAM of all theft incidents or situations where law enforcement has been called.

Ø Employees must have their belongings visually inspected each time they exit the building.

Ø Employees must provide proof of purchase for any merchandise purchased at WSS.

Ø APS must inspect all outbound trash being thrown away.


Ø If not actively engaged in theft prevention you will engage each customer with a genuine and friendly greeting as they are entering the store.

Ø When able assist with customer service and direct customers to the appropriate department and/or team members.

Ø Thank customers leaving the store and be sure to invite them back.

Ø Keep your area neat.

Clean glass doors and windows, ensuring front entrance area is swept and clean, pilferage organized in a neat and orderly manner.

Ø Log and transfer out daily Pilferage via WEBIM.


Ø Assist with looking for and reporting Mis-Mates daily or as needed (manage the M/M boxes located in the manager's office).

If only 1 CO on shift, focus on Mismates towards the end of business.

Ø Conduct and fill out Daily Security Checklist as it applies to your shift.

Ø Promote teamwork by educating store associates and new hires on safety and their role in preventing loss.

Ø Perform Cycle Counts as required.

Ø Assist with Returns and Exchanges.

Ø Report all unsafe conditions to MOD immediately. On rainy days assist by placing wet floor mat in front entrance.

Ø Verifying daily safe counts with MOD.

Ø CO must promote respectful, honest, and open communication with all employees.

Ø Be respectful and responsible when using radio headsets for communication.

Ø Always meet uniform and grooming standards (clean shirt, tucked in and wearing name badge).

Ø Carrying or using Mace, pepper spray, batons, tasers, firearms and ammo is PROHIBITED. You are not permitted to wear a Sam Browne belt.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ø Monitor CCTV

Ø Report to work on time, as scheduled. Punch in/out with in attendance guidelines.

Ø Perform Daily Security Checklist at opening and closing (opening as it applies).

Ø Report all incidents, arrest, and injuries to Asset Protection Area Manager.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Ø Must be 18 years or older.

Ø High School or GED equivalent

Ø Previous security experience a plus


WORK HOURS
Ø Available to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends and holidays.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ø This position involves constant moving, talking, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least
two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Also requires lifting at least 30 lbs.
