R&DE STUDENT HOUSING OPERATIONS:

The R&DE Student Housing Operations division is comprised of Graduate Housing, Undergraduate Housing, and R&DE Student Housing Assignments.

The mission of R&DE Student Housing Operations (SHO) is to assign and provide students and guests a clean, well-maintained, safe, sustainable, and comfortable home in a residential environment that optimizes opportunities for academic enrichment and personal growth.

R&DE SHO provides a welcoming home where students and other residents feel comfortable, safe, and secure. A home that supports community building, engagement, and academic success.


Fully On-Site:

This role is designated as essential and requires incumbents to report to work onsite. Telecommuting is not available for this role.


JOB PURPOSE**:

Oversee and manage assigned area, including staff engaged in facilities management, custodial services, or building/equipment maintenance.


Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Housing Operations (Graduate/Undergraduate Operations), the Housing Building Manager (HBM) will have primary responsibility for the daily up-keep, maintenance, general repair, custodial operations, field supervision, building operational support for the programs housed within his/her buildings (e.g.

specific theme houses, Conferences, etc.),


local liaison to other Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) division staff, Residential Education (ResEd) or Graduate Life (GLO) staff, and safety and security of a number of assigned R&DE Student Housing Operations (SHO) buildings/facilities.


CORE DUTIES:


Supervision and Staffing:


  • Supervise Bargaining Unit (BU) custodial staff. Responsible for selection, training, evaluating, mentoring, and holding staff accountable for performance. Specific duties should include safety training, custodial staff meetings, and staff scheduling.
  • Work closely with campus departments for oversight and accountability for assigned temporary employees. Participate in temporary staff selection process.
  • Conduct and oversee safety training for custodial and temporary staff. Coach and teach proper ergonomic cleaning methods to ensure minimize risk of injury for staff. Ensure safety of buildings and facilities through inspection and mitigating unsafe conditions.

Facility Management and Oversight:


  • Provide initial and ongoing response to facility/building issues. Proactively anticipate and address potential future concerns.
  • Manage the daytoday operations of housing areas which includes facility and building cleanliness through assessments and inspections, oversight of building work order input and completion, ensure security of facilities and equipment, routinely inspect facilities and immediate grounds, respond to student and staff concerns, other areas as needed.
