With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.\r

POSITION DUTIES
This position is provides support services for Field Services and Blindness and Vision Services and professional staff engaged in the planning and delivery of vocational and independent living services.\r

Job Duties Include:��\r
\r
\r
Provide proper interpersonal information to address consumer concerns, general public and private organizations.\r
Direct daily contact consists of providing information to consumers regarding vocational rehabilitation services, problem solving and completing applications.�\r
Prepare Case Service Purchases through AWARE (DORS Case Management System).��\r
Create authorizations and prepare bills for payment.��\r
Review and prioritize incoming correspondence.��\r
Develop and prepare general correspondence for consumers, vendors, and others.�\r
Assist consumers with accessing employment information on websites.\r
\r
\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r
Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.\r
Notes:�\r
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.\r
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience. \r
3.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.��\r
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with an electronic case management software program.�\r
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.�\r
Experience with medical/disability terminology and services.\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency\r
