- West Metro Transport Engineering team focuses on providing advanced network solutions using cutting-edge global transport network technology. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating optical transport solutions to enhance the Metro Access segment of the network. You'll be part of a dynamic environment that emphasizes quick customer delivery and long-term network development. Collaborate with various teams including planning, provisioning, standards, sales, and equipment suppliers to develop network and customer solutions.
- Work closely with field operations and implementation teams to gather necessary information like space, power, and fiber availability for project completion.
- Generate installation specifications (ISPECS) and relevant diagrams for the setup, activation, inventory, and configuration of Metro transport equipment in the network.
- Create project Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage orders for network equipment, racks, and hardware.
- Define cable needs, generate cable running lists, and order all required cables.
- Ensure accuracy and currency of all engineering documentation.
- Guarantee that the work aligns with engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.
- Lead project deployment to meet defined business goals and objectives.
- Identify, monitor, report, and escalate project issues for timely resolution.
- Develop and execute action plans to address project schedule delays and meet business objectives.
- Utilize project tracking tools to document milestones, issues, action plans, risks, and project completion status.
- Maintain open communication with the Project Sponsor, Team Members, and Management for early issue identification and status updates.
- Requirements: Associates degree or equivalent work experience with three or more years of relevant experience.
- An academic degree.
- Direct experience with Ciena and/or Cisco ROADM technology.
- Proficiency in detailed engineering and technical documentation creation.
- Thorough understanding of Outside Plant and Inside Plant facilities.
- Background in telecommunications equipment installation.
- Proficiency in CAD software tools.
- Familiarity with systems such as FIM, ICON, TCOMS, COFFEE, CCP, SRM/nSAP.
- Ability to multitask, collaborate cross-functionally, and address challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management abilities.
- Highly motivated, customer-oriented with strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
