SUMMARY:

The Estimator is responsible for Estimating functions supporting both Internally and externally.

The Estimator is responsible for the support activities of the department(s), Products or functions they have been assigned by the Estimating Manager and/or site operations manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support the business by providing manufacturing costs estimates for complex machined assemblies in the medical and aerospace fields
  • Defines process steps for the manufacturing of parts and assemblies to meet customer specifications
  • Calculates expected costs for labor, overhead, materials and subcontract operations based on documents provided by outside sources (prints, models, etc.) and internal costing rates.
  • Looks for and recommends improvement opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality and reduce lead times
  • Source outside services with approved suppliers to meet customer specifications and drive down costs
  • Develop, test and inspection criteria as needed
  • Troubleshoot processes, methods and provides overall support to manufacturing areas
  • Review quotes against actual costs for accuracy and process improvements
  • Uses creativity to define better methods and techniques to drive continuous improvement to reduce costs, improve quality and throughput and employs LEAN principles, cGMP principles and safety in everything they do

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and write fluently in English.

Ability to write reports and general business correspondence, and respond to common inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to assemble written and oral presentations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:_

  • BSME or other technical degree desired
  • 59 Years of Manufacturing Experience, preferably 5 years in CNC programming or process development in manufacturing
  • CNC programming and metalworking knowledge required
  • Strong computer skills in various programs are plusses, Excel, Word, MasterCam, SolidWorks etc required
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
