***:Officers provide a critical role in asset protection and workplace safety while effectively operating within a highly technical environment and Command Center. The Unarmed Security Officer provides a visual presence to ensure the safety of collections at the Gallery. The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for patrolling and securing premises as well as identifying risks, hazards, and environmental conditions. The Unarmed Security Officer ensures the integrity and proper operating condition of all installed security and HVAC systems. Officers conduct regular tours and monitor security and building systems, are able to take appropriate action with regards to alarming events and emergencies.


MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Technical experience with museum security procedures and facilities management.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Must have reliable/working transportation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ability to monitor security alarm, surveillance, and HVAC building management software systems.
  • Conduct foot patrols in accordance with post orders.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies as directed in post orders.
  • Look for and report potential safety hazards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Must enforce Gallery event guidelines, practices, and protocols
  • Maintain accurate and complete security records, including proper completion and analysis of incident reports.
  • Keep abreast of changes in executive legislative directives or new technologies impacting security operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Responsible for the physical security of the Gallery, monitoring all alarms, and taking the appropriate action to all alarm events and emergency situations. Duties also include reacting and responding to events that could be a potential or actual threat to the security of the Gallery and /or the safety of staff or visitors.
  • Must be able to perform basic hardware and software computer functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Must possess the values important to site Integrity, Communication, Excellent Service, and Accountability.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and some weekend events.
  • Must be able to work occasional day shifts including 1st and 2nd shifts while staying alert and functional.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ability to evaluate situations and react quickly and effectively in emergency situations

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must remain alert and functional throughout shift
  • Must be able to walk, stand and maintain posts for long periods of time and for multiple hours at a time.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver, crouch under, and climb around, up, and over mechanical spaces and ship ladders.
  • Job assignment is classified as essential and requires personnel to report to work to ensure the operation of essential functions during inclement weather.
