Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representative, Emergency Department Access Services, accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.
Qualifications:
- Required:_
- High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred:_
- Prior experience with hospital Patient Access/Registration and EPIC
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- N/A
Scheduling Requirements:
- Evening Shift, following a period of orientation and training on day shift
- Weekend and Holiday Rotations
- Per Diem
Essential Functions:
- Interviews patient and or family to complete registration
- Obtain/confirm all demographic and financial information is complete and accurate. Obtain and copy ID and insurance cards. Complete and copy all consent forms
- Accurately complete the Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire (MSP)
- Answers department phones quickly and relays all messages
- Collect deposits, deductibles and copays so as to meet required cash targets
- Maintain the required productivity and accuracy percentage as specified for job level
- Obtain Advance Medical Directive information, patient specific
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
