Specific Responsibilities

The Accountant for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache's Shared Accounting Services team at the company's Houston, TX office reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager.

The Accountant will perform routine tasks and reconciliations focused on accounts payable responsibilities, assist with associated internal reporting, review expense reports and communicate with vendors regarding payments and inquiries.


Position duties include but are not limited to the following:
Review duplicate invoice reports, payment proposal and complete daily payment process
Investigate and resolve issues related to returned payments or checks issued
Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and internal metrics
Research and respond to vendor inquiries and internal requests such as:
Invoice inquiries and payment status
Expedited payment requests
Special payment run requests
Block/unblock invoices or vendors
Work directly with APA's Treasury and Supply Chain, as well as other internal groups, to problem solve and provide specific guidance, as needed
Review employee expense reports for proper support and documentation for reimbursements
Review employee corporate credit card reports for proper support and reasonableness
Posting of Ad Valorem invoices and manual wire payments
Assist with preparation of annual 1099's for IRS tax reporting
Assist with ad-hoc projects, and participate in user acceptance testing on accounting projects Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, other field of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours
Entry level to 3 years of general accounting or auditing experience
Oil and gas industry experience preferred but not required
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
System experience with SAP Ariba, Concur or Symbeo are beneficial but not required
