Overview:


The Director of Music Ministries is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the musical and audiovisual components of Sunday worship services.

In partnership with the pastor and other staff, this part-time position ensures the music aligns with the overall theme and message of worship, which is a blend of modern and traditional music and practices.


Essential Job Functions:

Organize and coodinates year-round music programming:

  • Leads the choir, bell choir and other music ensembles, except the praise band, either directly or through volunteer or paid part-time staff.
  • Creates a positive and supportive environment that encourages broad participation in all music programs.
  • Works iwth Director of Family Ministries to create and implement musical programs that support student participation in worship services.
  • Oversees and leads musical programs for the Christmas and Easter Seasons, as well as for other events throughout the year.
  • Looks for opportunities to create new or expand existing music programs or to utilize new worship and music styles to create worship services that honor God and appeal to the congregation.
  • Supervise parttime paid staff and volunteers who support music activities.
Critical member of the team that brings the message, music, A/V and the creative elements of worship together:

  • Participates in weekly planning sessions with the pastor and the praise band leader and serves on the Worship Design Team.
  • Selects and ensures that all music aligns with the overall theme and message for that week's worship or other special services.
  • Leads or ensures effective leadership of all music groups or individual music performers in the worship service.
  • Oversees or coordinates with the A/V and technology team, which consists of both parttime and volunteer staff.
  • Supports the ministry, Christian education, and other programs of the church through music and worship arts activities as requested.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing or has bachelor's degree in music or related field
  • Experience leading choirs and instrumental groups of all ages and types
  • Experience in worship service planning

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstarted Christian faith and living
  • Strong instrumental skills, including piano and organ
  • Strong vocal skills
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to recruit, train, and motivate participants for music programs
  • Knowledge of audiovisual tools and techniques
