The Position:

**Instrument Technician, day shift for DOW Freeport
**Previous DOW training a plus


We are looking for a positive, energetic instrument technician with a wide variety of abilities to complement our experienced workforce.


Applicants should have the ability to:

  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace process instruments as a part of the facility's maintenance program
  • Maintain process instruments including valves, vibration monitors and other instruments
  • Pressure test pneumatic instruments for leaks, pneumatic instruments with controllers, transducers, and valves in service
  • Perform troubleshooting on energized motor controls
  • Size thermaloverloads, breakers, and fuses
  • Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems
  • Involve in evaluation of instrument performance to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities
  • Loop check electrical wiring for continuity and proper termination
  • Perform field calibration of electronic instruments with transmitters, controllers, transducers, valves, and recorders in service
  • Read, understand, correlate, and troubleshoot from oneline schematics P & ID's, and ladder diagrams
  • Knowledgeable in the use of electrical equipment testers including V.O.M., AMP meter and 1000volt insulation tester
  • Knowledgeable in communication and applicable electrical OSHA rules and regulations

Requirements:


  • Ability to meet the cut score on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Skill Assessment
  • Ability to pass a postoffer, preemployment DISA drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks
  • Minimum 5 years craftspecific experience
  • Associates Degree in Instrumentation
