Job Summary:
A. Planning and Preparation
- Demonstrates knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Establishes general outcomes for the support services
- Demonstrates knowledge of resources, both within and beyond
- Plans support services to meet the needs of individual students
- Develops a plan to evaluate the support services provided
B. Classroom/Therapeutic Environment
- Creates an environment of respect and rapport
- Establishes a culture for productive communication
- Defines expectations
- Contributes to the culture for positive student behavior in the school
C. Instruction/Delivery of Service
- Provides direct services in the preschool classroom without pulling students from the room
- Assesses student needs
- Uses strategies in the social work setting
- Collaborates with stakeholders (staff, families, outside providers, etc.) in order to meet student needs
- Reflects on practice
D. Professional Responsibilities & Personal Qualities
- Manages paperwork
- Participates in a school/district community
- Engages in professional development
- Shows professionalism
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois teaching license with proper endorsement(s): school social work
- Ability to effectively collaborate
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in use of instructional technology
- Experience or interest in working with students with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional disabilities
- Trained in Nonviolent Crisis Interventions or willing to obtain this certification
Working Conditions:
Salary:
Per NSEA New Teacher Hire Grid for the school year, excellent benefits, TRS Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, bereavement leave, and other benefits.
