$
64,480 - $70,000


Program Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm


Supervisory Responsibility:
Interns

***Work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to provide services and devise appropriate service plans for children ages birth to five years, who have or are at risk of having developmental delays, and their families. Oversee parent support meetings, coordinate referrals to community services, provide ongoing supervision and training to social workers and social worker interns, and provide support to departmental staff.


Essential Duties:


Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team and help in making placement decisions and planning programs to meet the special needs of children.

Serve as a resource to educators and staff regarding social work and ancillary services which may benefit Early Start families.

Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Organize and oversee social work programs to include parent training classes, parent group, specialized counseling and support activities. Serve as a liaison between the child, home and community resources.

Make court appearances to present data and report case findings. Serve as an advocate for developmentally disabled individuals for their civil and personal rights.

Provide support to families in crisis (e.g. domestic violence or suspected child abuse and neglect, etc.). Provide crisis transportation or escort to parents or families in need of crisis services.

Provide in-service training and workshops for staff and interns as requested by Program Manager. Keep abreast of developments and research in the field of social work and share with colleagues.

Ensure accurate case notes and records are maintained by social workers and interns.


In consultation with the Human Resources Department, handle personnel administration, including hiring, training, supervision, development, evaluation and dismissal of those supervised in compliance with ECF policies, practices and procedures.

Manage, monitor and facilitate the work responsibilities for social workers and interns.


Other Duties
Comply with ECF's Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Observe regular, on-site work hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work.


Experience:

Two years working with children (birth to five years) who have or are at risk of having developmental delays, or training and working with the parents of same in the capacity of a social worker.


Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

Ability to assess developmental delays in children ages birth to five years.
Ability to communicate effectively with clientele, service providers, families and agency personnel, observing tact and diplomacy at all times.
Ability to use sound judgment and conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to react quickly to emergencies.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Armenian) based on client needs.
Computer skills sufficient for report writing.
Good organizational skills and a high level of initiative.


Requirements:

Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
Pass a DOJ background investigation.
Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
Pass a pre-employment physical.
Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
