    OVERVIEW OF CCA

    POSITION SUMMARY


    The Assistant Director of Academic Advising is a key member of the Academic Advising team and will assist the Director of Academic Advising in creating strategic advising initiatives and supervising a team of academic advisors.

    The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with student persistence and success at the Community College of Aurora. This position will supervise, train, and evaluate Academic Advisors.

    They are responsible for programmatic functions, including group advising, involvement in new student onboarding activities, advising tools, enrollment and retention reports, training, and other operations.


    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supports the director in coordination of academic coaching/advising efforts including training of academic advisors, meeting metrics, and staffing
    • Supports proactive approach to advising to assure quality advisement for all students, ensuring key performance indicators (KPI's) are maintained for prospect and current students
    • Assists director with developing advisor training materials
    • Participates in cross-training of all advisors, TRiO advisors, COSI advisors and other campus staff members
    • Maintains current knowledge of college curriculum and academic policies and procedures related to academic processes
    • Keeps current with technology programs, including; DegreeWorks, Banner, CCA Navigate, and early-intervention tools
    • Participates in departmental, divisional, and institutional assessment activities
    • Collaborates with Enrollment Management entities and Student Success entities to ensure retention is met based on student needs both inside and outside of the classroom.
    • Reviews and manages workflow through Navigate/Institutional Research reports
    • Manage daily operations and problem-solve to support all academic advisors
    • Provide oversight of the successful operation of the Academic Momentum department; coordinate the advisor schedule; responsible for all aspects of the personnel process including supervision, performance evaluations, training, professional development, for academic advisors.
    • Builds and maintains navigate dashboards, gathers academic momentum data, and write reports for Enrollment Management Leadership as requested.
    • Evaluate budget needs in academic momentum.
    • Overall responsible of performance of academic momentum team in Academic Advising.
    • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Advising.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field
    • At least 5 years of professional experience in academic advising in a higher education setting or similar experience.
    • Strong data and analysis skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate and work effectively with individuals and teams, from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
    • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills
    • Strong data and analysis skills.
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience supervising professional staff
    • Experience coordinating programs and related campus activities.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively in an environment requiring a high level of discretion.
    • Strong organizational skills including the ability to set priorities and demonstrate initiative.
    • Technical and computer skills to support assessment and continuous improvement of the academic momentum initiatives including experience with Navigate EAB.
    • Bilingual

    SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

    Salary Range:
    Anticipated starting salary range: $65,000.00 annually.

    This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

    CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits.

    Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
