Position OverviewThe Surgery Center Administrative Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily non-clinical operations of a high-performing ambulatory surgery center. This role ensures efficient workflow, staff coordination, billing oversight, financial accountability, regulatory support, and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership position focused on execution, organization, and efficiency — not a clinical supervisory role.
Core Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Oversight
Coordinate daily staff coverage and scheduling logistics
Ensure smooth patient flow and case-day coordination
Oversee vendor, rep, and facility coordination
Manage supply ordering and inventory tracking
Maintain operational readiness of the facility
- Administrative & HR Coordination
Track PTO and employee attendance
Support onboarding documentation and employee file organization
Assist with implementation of HR policies and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with HR consultant on compliance updates
- Billing & Financial Oversight
Review monthly collections and accounts receivable reports
Monitor aging reports and held claims or liens
Flag discrepancies or concerning trends to ownership
Assist in tracking revenue, payroll percentage, and operational KPIs
This role does not perform billing but ensures oversight and accountability of the billing partner.
- Reporting & Metrics
Track key performance indicators including:
Case volume
Collections
AR aging
OR utilization
Payroll as a percentage of revenue
Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Team Coordination
Maintain accountability and follow-through on delegated tasks
Ensure operational standards and professionalism are upheld
Clinical supervision remains under the Director of Nursing.
- Cost Analysis & Supply Efficiency
Analyze trends in case-related supply spending
Identify opportunities to reduce waste or negotiate improved vendor pricing
Monitor inventory usage relative to case volume
Provide periodic reporting on cost-per-case metrics to ownership
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in healthcare operations (ASC experience preferred)
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Working knowledge of medical billing processes
Comfortable reviewing financial reports and operational metrics
Ability to work independently and problem-solve
Strong communication and coordination skills
Compensation
Base Salary:
$70,000 – $90,000 annually (based on experience)
Performance-based bonus tied to operational and financial metrics
