Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED. Completion of three semester credits in Anatomy and three semester credits in Physiology are required. Three years of experience in forensic pathology and autopsy procedures are required.
Recruitment Notes
This position is located in the morgue bureau of the Medical Examiner Department. The Senior Forensic Autopsy Technician plays an active role in assisting the Medical Examiner with Forensic pathological services.
The position is involved in the internal and external examination of human remains in various stages of decomposition including skeletal remains and eviscerations.
Processing x-rays, fingerprinting, collecting and labeling specimens, documenting and releasing property and evidence to law enforcement or requesting agencies, releasing remains to funeral homes, cleaning autopsy instruments, the autopsy room, and the laundry used during an autopsy as well as restocking morgue bureau supplies.
This position involves standing for long periods, maneuvering decedents that weigh an average of 175 lbs., tolerating noxious odors, and working with more than one Medical Examiner at any given time.
