REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:


General Description
Performs supervisory duties for the forensic technician staff.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires an associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in forensic, biological science or closely related field.


(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)
Requires four (4) years of forensic autopsy experience including one (1) year of lead work/supervisory experience.


Preferences

  • 35 years autopsy supervisor experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Performs supervisory duties to forensic technician staff and manages their schedules and duties.

Assists with autopsies and exams and logging in/out cases.

Develops, maintains, and prepares standard operating procedures, goals and objectives, policies and reports.

Establishes and maintains protocols for long-term storage and retrieval of all work products produced by the section (e.g. blocks, slides, tissue, and DNA)

Develops and conducts training on proper documentation techniques and equipment procedures.

Approves payroll for forensic photographer/technician employees.

Maintains inventory and orders supplies.

Reviews policy development and attends meetings.

Performs related work as assigned.
