Job Summary/Basic Function

About This Role:


As part of the payroll team, under the supervision of the Director of Payroll, the Payroll Assistant will aid in the processing and reviewing of the biweekly and monthly payrolls.

Responsibilities include analyzing and gathering payroll information needed for the Payroll Specialists to process the payrolls; running scheduled payroll reports for other payroll personnel to use.

This person must be able to interpret and understand Texas State and University Payroll Policies and Procedures.
What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting Payroll Specialists in the preparation and processing of the biweekly and monthly payrolls | 55%
  • Responsible for running scheduled payroll reports and create reports as needed | 7%
  • Responsible for contacting departments in assuring timesheets are approved timely and accurately | 5%
  • Responsible for maintaining/scanning regular and offcycle payroll documents according to a retention schedule | 5%

Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
  • Entrylevel, minimum of 2years Payroll related experience
