Responsibilities:

The wiring harness is one of the most complex systems in a vehicle, with several kilometers of wiring.

Due to increasing demands from data customers and product safety, it is necessary for insights to be incorporated into the product and related products more quickly, automatically, and with process reliability during the various stages of vehicle development.

In order to meet these increasing demands and faster change cycles, changes in the change management process must be evaluated early and standardized, in order to incorporate them more quickly, automatically, and with process reliability into the product and related products.

This requires learning from past changes.

As part of your thesis, you will be responsible for the following topics:

Familiarization with the wiring harness environment, change management, and existing tool chain
Research on the state of the art and current research (general, automotive industry, wiring harness)
Analysis of technical changes from various development projects, formats, and data sources
Application of natural language processing approaches for extracting information from unstructured change descriptions
Validation of results based on publications in the field
Application of image processing approaches for extracting information from sketches
Creation and population of a database based on identified changes
Programming of a tool/program/script
Preparation of the thesis, documentation, and presentation of results

The final topic will be determined in consultation with the university, you, and us.
