    Essential Function:

    Provides a wide range of operational and employee-service driven initiatives including human resources policies and practices administration, recruitment, employee relations, and workforce development. Process various paper and electronic forms related to documenting human resources activities such as new-hire orientation, change of status, benefits, termination of employment, etc. Inputs employee personal data into human resources information / computer system (HRIS) database and/or documents activities as requested.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct support to various departments as part of a centralized function to handle a variety of HR-related transactions
    • Receive and respond to requests concerning HR policies/programs
    • Enter, edit and maintain confidential employee information in ADP
    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Seek opportunities for continuous process improvement, recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvement in efficiency of department.
    • Create and maintain Work Instructions in Microsoft Word for administrative functions
    • Research and propose opportunities for low-cost training and development
    • Troubleshoot broken or weak processes to find root cause analysis
    • Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing
    • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S
    • Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments
    • Perform other duties as assigned by department management

    Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a specialization in either.
    • Strongly prefer a 3.0 GPA or higher
    • Sophomore or higher class status
    • A 2nd or 3rd year student with the availability of multiple term rotations.
    • Ability to handle customer and internal situations, which are sometimes stressful or time critical in a logical manner and resolve issues tactfully.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Ability to calculate figures and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to utilize computer applications such as; Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Accounting, and Database software.

    • Communication – Begin with the end in mind – Communicate boldly as well as effectively with empathy and respect to inspire teamwork and collaboration vertically and horizontally within Silfex.
    • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities. Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area. Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.

    Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and; talk or hear.

    The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee regularly is required to lift up to 10 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
