    General Statement of Duties:
    Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings, mechanical and electrical equipment, and fixtures; performs related work as required

    Supervision Received:
    Works under the supervision of a maintenance supervisor or a department head who assigns work and inspects completed projects

    Supervision Exercised:
    May oversee a few semi-skilled workers of various trades or workers of lower grade
    • Performs skilled tasks in the repair, maintenance, and installation of heating systems, plumbing fixtures, and equipment.
    • Performs skilled tasks in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, wood fixtures, and furniture.
    • Performs skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and installation of refrigeration, ventilation, kitchen, laundry, elevators, and other mechanical equipment.
    • May test and repair electrical light and power distribution circuits, equipment, and appliances.
    • Assists in the installation of various systems.
    • May perform minor plastering, cement work, and painting.
    • Plans work, estimates materials, inspects work sites, reads blueprints, interprets diagrams, and maintains records.
    • Operates various power equipment and hand tools.
    Minimum Entrance Requirements:
    Three years of progressive experience in the building maintenance field

    Necessary Special Requirement:
    Possession of a valid State of Michigan driver's license at the time of appointment
