    Job Description

    Speech Language Pathologist

    Felton ECE Programs

    Agency Overview

Founded in 1889, Felton Institute (formerly Family Service Agency of San Francisco) is the oldest nonsectarian, nonprofit charitable social-services provider in the City and County of San Francisco. Our mission is to strengthen families by providing caring, effective, and innovative social services, with special emphasis on the needs of low-income families, children, and the elderly and disabled people, thus improving the quality of life for all San Franciscans.

    Program Description

The Family Developmental Center (FDC) is a licensed child development program which has been operated by the Family Service Agency of San Francisco since 1971. Located in the Mission District at 2730 Bryant Street, the program offers a developmental childcare and school-readiness program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers (2 weeks to 5 years old). This multicultural, developmental and educational childcare program provides a nurturing, developmentally challenging, and inclusive environment for very young children of low income, at-risk families. We place an emphasis on the provision of culturally sensitive services to children and families. This is reflected in a multi-lingual, culturally competent approach to the services as well as a variety of activities that reflect the diverse community of children and parents that are served. We are committed to inclusive, positive environments that build on children's positive self-esteem and self-image.

FDC offers a mainstreaming model for medically fragile and developmentally delayed infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Blending clinical and educational components for the children and their families, the program provides assessment, Individual Educational Plans, and a play-based curriculum which focuses on child initiated and teacher facilitated activities. Additionally, we offer family support, parent education, speech and language therapy, coordinate for occupational and physical therapy, Mental Health services for children and families, and an on-site Nurse monitors children's health. All of FDC's teaching staff hold early Childhood Education credentials.

This position will be headquartered at FDC but can see children at any of Felton's ECE sites (with travel reimbursed to the other ECE Sites)
