Description

Your mission at Climeworks is to combine an understanding of energy/power markets and modeling expertise to play a key role in developing and executing our energy strategy to power, optimize and enable the success of our DAC facilities.


  • You work on electricity market forecast modeling, including validation and sanity checks for thirdparty forecasts that we procure.
  • You will perform sensitivity analysis for market forecasts and be involved in the development of the electricity generation fleet and electricity price forecasts.
  • You will engage in scenariobased analysis and help internalize energy market forecasts to inform and develop our view on energy markets and commercial energy strategy for our DAC facilities in different energy markets and geographic regions.
  • You will model and forecast electricity grid carbon intensity, informing how to manage carbon intensity as part of our larger energy strategy and operations efforts.
  • You will manage the interface with thirdparty market forecast providers and the respective deliverables we receive from them to support and inform our energy market view.
  • You will maintain electricity market models for all project sites, conduct continuous review and adaptation of market drivers and risk exposure, and support building the internal strategic view of energy markets we are active in or might enter to inform project development, operations, and facility optimization strategy.
  • You will support efforts to advance the development and optimization of the DAC technology from an energy markets view.
  • You hold a university degree in engineering or economics, along with professional education in system modeling.
  • You have extensive experience in electricity market modeling and professional programming skills.
  • You possess a solid understanding of electricity and/or thermal generation technologies and their technoeconomics.
  • You feel comfortable with complex tasks and multicriteria decisions and can work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • You can work in a small team and across a multidisciplinary organization.
  • You have the desire to map out and come up with approaches/strategies to complex market and technical challenges, and the capability to break down complex topics and explain them to team members with different backgrounds.
  • You are proficient in English.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally.
