Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist (APS) is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day Accounts Payable (AP) activities. The AP Department is responsible for creating accurate and timely payments for the company.


Essential Duties:


  • Perform Accounts Payable activities
- receiving invoices, obtaining approvals, coding, posting invoices, and issuing vendor checks.

  • Process and facilitate AP payment runs weekly
  • ACH, Check, Credit Cards.
  • Make basic and routine monthly closing journal entries.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors, internal staff and store level managers to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant accounts payable information.
  • Cultivate and maintain open relationships and consistent communication with customers, internal and external. Prompt response to inquiries.
  • Execute accurate and timely data entry with strong attention to detail.
  • Report to the Senior Accountant the status of AP activities.
  • Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree, preferred, equivalent experience accepted.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full cycle Accounts Payable experience in a corporate environment is required. Retail or Grocery environment is a plus.
  • Direct experience with Accounts Payable processes within ERP system required. NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience with system implementation is a plus.
  • Must possess a demonstrated working knowledge of Chart of Accounts and General Ledger.
  • Must possess effective communication and analytical skills.
  • Positive attitude, selfstarter, and team player required.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fastpaced environment with heavy volume of transactions a must.
  • Demonstrated accountability, sense of ownership, and urgency. Demonstrated experience with a rollup the sleeves and cando attitude.
  • Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Physical Demands:

The role will rely heavily upon the incumbents' ability to communicate clearly and as such, the ability to speak, listen and comprehend information is critical.

There will be long, extensive periods of sitting while working on a computer but based upon the layout of the corporate office and our retail stores, the ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs is required.

Must possess the manual dexterity to use a computer for long, extensive periods of time.


Work Environment:
The work environment is based in a corporate environment. Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.


Work Schedule:
Full time role to equate to 40 hours or more per week. Occasionally, there may be business functions that will require your presence on additional nights and/or weekends.
