To learn more about us, please see CDTFA Gateway to New Opportunities video**Under the general direction of the Business Taxes Administrator (BTA) III, the Supervising Tax Auditor (STA) II supervises staff performing the most difficult and highly specialized audit functions for the Local Revenue Branch (LRB).

The STA II oversees through the technical supervisor and staff the processing of scheduled tax returns ensuring allocation and registration compliance within the tight unloading deadlines, insuring accurate and timely allocations, and billings.

The STA II is responsible for review of the most complex scheduled sales and use tax returns and adjustments, questions, and fund transfer approvals above threshold limits.

The STA II authorizes District Office investigations of local and district tax issues, providing field audit staff with direction and guidance in both LRB and field audit assignments.

The STA II ensures timely allocation, funding, and payments to jurisdictions in the State of California.

The STA II reviews legislation for staff resources to implement new legislation and oversees special projects, as required by legislation and/or board regulation.

The STA II leads and coordinates programming efforts to modify and enhance mainframe return, EFT, fund allocation and fund distribution systems to ensure the overall allocation and deallocation of the local and district taxes.

The STA II may act as the BTA III in her/his absence.

Working Conditions

  • Position is located in a highrise building.
  • Telework is available fifty percent (50%) of the time.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.
