What you'll do:


  • Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, frontend loaders, bulldozers, excavators, or grade tractors.
  • Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
  • Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches.
  • Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
  • Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

What you'll need to know:


  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment
  • Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment
  • Possessing enough strength to operate the controls on heavy equipment
  • Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
  • Problemsolving skills to diagnose issues with equipment
  • Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite
  • Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
  • Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
