Sanitation Incentive:

Employees in this position are eligible to be paid an eight (8) hours even if the assigned route is completed in less time.

CDL Permit holders are eligible for City paid training. Terms and conditions will apply. Tasks/Duties Alternately drive vehicles utilized for collection of refuse or recycled materials.

Lift in excess of 50 pounds of canned or bagged refuse/yard waste in a continuing effort throughout the work day.

Supervise the crew assigned to the collection route when driving, including temporary personnel. Maintain a log of the dumps at the transfer station, tonnage, customer counts and time logs.
Conduct pre-trip inspection of vehicles and complete reports.
Tag violations and improper refuse and recycling. Hand out pertinent educational brochures, dealing tactfully with the citizens.
Report, via radio, of daily activity status, reports, etc.
Exercise proper safety measures when working in congested traffic areas with potentially dangerous equipment.
Work in all types of weather and walk extreme distances when not driving the vehicle.
Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.

Complete required trainings as specifiedwithin the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Commercial Class B Driver License (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement or proof of written portion (valid permit) of Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement.

Must obtain Florida Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement within ninety (90) days of employment.

Note:
Permit holders will be hired at 5% less the minimum hiring range until license is obtained.
Valid Class E driver license. Must obtain Florida Class E driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.

Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in refuse pick up, to include side and rear loading compaction type refuse collection vehicles.

Supplemental Information Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a criminal background screening.

Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).Position is considered at-risk for exposure to Hepatitis B during performance of regular duties.

An acceptance/declination of vaccination form is required. This position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations for pre-employment drug testing and inquiries.
