JOB PURPOSE:

This position works with customers, donors, and volunteers in the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat Restore.

The position serves as an ambassador for the Habitat for Humanity brand and is critical to the store's success through the delivery of consistent, exceptional customer service.

Additionally, this position will assist with the organization, cleanliness and safety of the sales floor.

The Merchandiser/Cashier will process and price incoming donations and ring sales on the POS system. They may guide and follow up with store volunteers and will need to create a welcoming environment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Accurately and efficiently operate cash registers, processing daily transactions and all documentation surrounding it, answering phones and taking messages, and assisting with the merchandising of items
  • Ensures each customer receives outstanding service by providing a courteous and professional interaction
  • Maintains an awareness of all store promotions and advertisements
  • Adheres to all ReStore safety regulations
  • Assists with processing incoming merchandise and stocking shelves
  • Responds promptly to customer inquiries; escalates concerns to management when required
  • Assists with the maintenance and cleaning of the store as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Belief in Habitat for Humanity's global, mission, principles and structure
  • Ability to process information/merchandise through register
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation, including calculating percentages
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday 9:30am to 5:30pm, with half hour lunch
